La Marina Del Rio: Premier Wingshooting Lodge in Mexico

La Marina del Río stands among the most iconic and proven wingshooting lodges in all of Mexico and North America. Opened in 1989, it has been the only hunting lodge operated continuously in Mexico, earning its reputation over decades of exceptional bird hunting, refined hospitality, and unmatched consistency.
Located on the east coast of Tamaulipas near the village of La Pesca, approximately 150 miles south of the Texas border, the lodge sits in a uniquely productive sub-tropical region defined by extraordinary biodiversity and access to one of North America’s most important bird ecosystems.
The lodge features its own boat dock directly on-site, allowing hunters to depart straight from the property for duck hunts on the Laguna Madre without unnecessary driving or extra logistics.
Most guests fly into McAllen, Texas (MFE), where lodge transfers provide a comfortable three- to four-hour drive across the border. For additional convenience, there is now an option to fly directly into Tampico, Mexico (TAM), reducing transfer time to roughly one to two hours from the airport to the lodge.
Owned and operated by Cavi Del Río, a lifelong expert of the region and certified shooting instructor, the lodge delivers a professional and deeply authentic Mexico hunting program. Hunts are built around classic Mexico variety: morning duck hunts on the lagoon followed by exciting afternoons pursuing white-winged doves or wild bobwhite quail in nearby upland country.
For hunters seeking the finest Mexico lodge experience—whitewing dove hunts, world-class duck hunting, and true northern Mexico tradition—La Marina del Río remains one of the premier destinations in Wings Inc’s international portfolio.
